Why you Should do Body Brushing

Have you ever heard about body brushing? Maybe you have even given it a go at some time. Body brushes are fairly easy to purchase at any store, but maybe you have seen them and walked by because you do not know what it is used for. Read further to discover the benefits of body brushing, you will be adding a brush to your cart the next time you go shopping.

The main benefit of body brushing is the stimulation of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is there to help you remove toxins from the body and is an important part of the immune system. By body brushing you are helping your body detox, aids in the removal of dead skin helps improve circulation, and reduces fluid retention. If you are looking to improve your skin tone and cellulite, body brushing might just be the thing to do.

 Why Body Brush?

We all know that our skin is an organ and the largest one of the body, you have large amounts of toxins released through the skin every day. Many times, if there is a problem in the body, it can show up on the skin as a rash, cellulite, acne, or fluid retention.

The lymphatic system is made up of a network of vessels, nodes, and glands that spans the entire body. As mentioned, its job is to help remove toxins from the body, it does this by removing waste from the body tissues that is carried into the bloodstream. It is, therefore, important to keep our bodies and the lymphatic system in good health.

Since the lymphatic system relies on the surrounding muscle and joints to keep fluid moving, it is important to keep the body healthy and moving. Everyday exercise and drinking enough water are great ways to help. You can also try a lymphatic massage or, of course, body brushing.

How to Body Brush

Dong body brushing regularly is what you want to aim for, so developing a routine is the best idea. Try to fit it in just before you shower or bathe. You do not have to do it every day but aim for at least 3-4 times during the week.

It is the best way to improve circulation and improve that dreaded cellulite. I prefer to use a natural brush or exfoliator, but you will have to see what you prefer.

Body Brushing Technique

Always begin from the bottom and work your way up the body. Use gentle strokes that move toward your heart. Move up your legs, making sure to get to all sides. Do not forget the stomach and chest area.

Use the brush on your arms, moving towards you, again, always in the direction of your heart. Do not use the brush too hard, rather use light strokes all over. Also, remember to cover your arms as well, as there are lymph nodes in that area.

When choosing a brush, there are quite a few options from soft bristles to harder ones, ones that come with rubber grips, or even brushes for your face. A brush that comes with a long detachable handle might be good, as you can get to your back as well. You will have to look around at your favourite beauty supply store to find the best one for you.

Safety and Essential Oils

Diffusing essential oils, could this possibly be harmful? Enjoying the scents of peppermint, lavender, or lemon, could it somehow have harmful effects? Using essential oils has become quite popular recently, I do wonder if everybody is aware that concentrated essential oils have precautions, even if they are considered natural. It is worth the effort to do a little research before using essential oils. Essential oils do provide numerous benefits, but in the wrong hands, they can also contribute to things like skin irritations, they may exacerbate respiratory problems, or even affect hormone-related issues. Also, your pets are prone to be sensitive to oils. So, it is important to know which oils you can use and which to avoid. If you are ever in doubt about using essential oils for a physical problem, always check in with your doctor first before jumping in and applying the oils. Some even encourage the internal use of essential oils. Personally, I would only do so on advisement fr...
